The voluntary registration of insured persons in the SAA shall be carried out within 10 working days of receipt of the request of the person.
Voluntary State social insurance can join the 15 years who have reached the age of persons whose permanent place of residence is in the Republic of Latvia.
A person who is not subject to mandatory social insurance in the Republic of Latvia and who has not been granted a State old-age pension may voluntarily join pension insurance,
On a voluntary basis join a pension, disability, maternity, illness, parental insurance may be self-employed spouse, who is not subject to mandatory social insurance in the Republic of Latvia and has not reached the age entitling them to state old-age pension, or which has not been granted state old-age pension (including preretirement pension).
In addition to pension insurance, persons who pay seasonal farm income tax and professional athletes may, on a voluntary basis, be added to pension insurance if they are not at the same time in an employment relationship with another employer or are self-employed.
On a voluntary basis, members of the diaspora resident outside Latvia may join the State pension insurance, who are not involved in the social security system and do not receive a pension in their home country.
To request the service, you must fill in for a particular form submission addressed to the SSIA.
May submit a submission:
• on the www.latvija.lv portal;
• on-site (if requested for service, a personal identification document (passport or ID card) must be produced);
• electronically (the application must be signed with a secure electronic signature containing the time stamp);
• by post.
An application may be submitted in person to any VSAA customer service centre or to the unified customer service centres of the State and local governments.
The submission shall indicate the preferred method of receiving the decision.
Receipt of services
A person who has voluntarily joined the State Social Insurance may receive a decision at the address of the declared place of residence or by post.
A personal identification document (passport or ID card) must be produced for the receipt of a decision.
