The damages shall be paid to the member of the accident of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (AES), who has been identified as having a disability or a loss of capacity in relation to the performance of the consequences of THE accident.
Compensation for damage shall also be paid to disabled family members of the deceased MEMBER who have been dependent on it and who have been granted a survivor's pension.
Process description
Service requests
The reimbursement must be claimed within 6 months of the date of the determination of the degree of invalidity or loss of capacity or the date of death of THE member OF THE CHAISE. When requesting reimbursement at a later date, it shall be granted only for the previous 6 months before the date of the request for reimbursement.
In order to claim the remuneration, a specific form of application addressed to the SAA must be completed.
May submit a submission:
• on the www.latvija.lv portal;
• on-site (if requested for service, a personal identification document (passport or ID card) must be produced);
• electronically (the application must be signed with a secure electronic signature containing the time stamp);
• by post.
The application may be submitted to any VSAA customer service centre.
The submission shall indicate the preferred method of receiving the decision.
If a member of his or her family requests damages in the event of the death of A MEMBER of THE CHAISE, an opinion of the Occupational and Radiation Medical Centre of the P.Stradite Clinical University Hospital regarding the association of the cause of death of THE MEMBER with the elimination of the consequences of the accident shall be submitted in addition.
Receipt of services
A decision regarding the granting of compensation may be received in person, by post, in the official electronic address or in the portal www.latvija.lv, in accordance with the type of receipt of the decision indicated in the application.
The remuneration shall be transferred to the account of the credit institution or postal settlement system specified by the beneficiary or delivered to his or her place of residence.
